Well the hub part anyway, and I am excited to have them...
Was tidying up the work bench earlier today and realized that I had quite a few hubs laying on it waiting for someone to verify dimensions so spokes can be ordered....wonder who that would be?
Hard photo op to miss out on ;-)
These are the hubs laying on the bench. Sturmey Archer vintage, Sturmey Archer new and Shimano. One pair of the vintage hubs are getting laced onto a set of CR-18 alloy rims to go on my Raleigh Superbe for everyday riding. The original steel rims have a kink and hop that I cannot get out, but I want to save the wheels for shows. Another of the vintage hubs is for my wife's Colt, she is getting a dyno hub on it. The newer SA hubs are for the Raleigh Record build, that one is getting the CR-18 rims also. The Shimano hubs are just there for the moment, both are 8 speeds, one interestingly enough is coaster brake.

Could you show how to, work on these hubs? I just got m dream bike, and it has them.
Which hub do you have Dan? I haven't torn into any of the modern ones...yet. But have torn down several of the old Sturmey Archers. There are several great videos on YouTube, showing the process.
On the more modern hubs parts availability is questionable too.

Fun blog. Keep writing. I'd like to see more on the old Colt since we have a couple of fans in this family. Ours luckily came with S3C hubs- only awful where the TCW is double awful.
Sheldon Brown and John Allen on sheldonbrown.com and John Allen's blog both have links to lots of old hub repair information. Another excellent site for internal gear info is http://hubstripping.wordpress.com/ or you could look at the Aaron's bike repair site from Seattle. Most people suggest having a spare of any hub you are working on, especially SRAM, which has the issues with parts availability.
Hooray for old sensible bikes!
Hi Chicargo,
Come along for the ride...
I will get some posts up on the Colts (now two of them)in the Spring. I am going to be upgrading the newer green one to alloy rims and an SC3 hub. Just scored a couple of those. Can't find AWC hubs.

I have drum brake hubs on my 1984 Raleigh Sport. I now have a Raleigh DL-1 missing the lights. I wonder if you have or know of a vintage Sturmey Archer GH6 Dynohub? They are very scarce thing around here. any help would great full.
Hi DAN,
I get most of my hubs off of Ebay, or the occasional bike swap show. There is a get together in Minneapolis every September called ABCE Tour there is always a "jumble" where parts are for sale or trade on Sunday. I typically only make it to the event every 3 years or so. I am due again this year. I will keep my eye out for a hub for you.

Thanks for the help Aaron.
