Just get out there and ride! Don't need lycra or special shoes. A helmet is optional...your choice.

I am just a guy with a love of the bicycle and a firm believer it is a viable form of transportation. The bicycle is an amazing invention. It allows a small human to transport a large load over long distances easily. It is THE MOST ENERGY EFFICIENT FORM OF TRANSPORTATION...PERIOD!!!

There is a Bike in there...HONEST!

This is why I need a folding bike! You can just barely see the Twenty right at the tailgate of the pickup. When I went up to this job site we orignially had scheduled a truck to come and haul at least two loads of equipment and job related items back to the office. Somewhere along the way the first truck got canceled, the foreman wrecked his pickup and was driving a crew van instead, so lets load up my truck...

After having read your June 7th post I started thinking it might be nice to have a folding bike as a secondary ride for work related travel. I've started noticing all the folders available on Craigslist around here.

Hi Rat Trap Press,

Folders are awesome once you get used to their idiosyncrasies. Vik over at The Lazy Randonneur does some amazing things with his Bike Fridays. I have been looking at folding bikes for a couple of years and have about decided for a pure folder my best bet is going to be a custom Bike Friday Season Tikit. Most of the stock folders run too small for my leg length. Another one that I really liked was the 2008 Dahon Speed TR, it came ready to roll with fenders, racks, SRAM dual drive, generator hub and lights for ~$1150. ThorUSA has a few "08s left on close out for $880. They have dropped the lights and dyno hub for the 2009 model year.

Very cute! It looks like a little reindeer is peeking out of the truck.

There was a green Raleigh 20 on Boston Craigslist last week for $200 and I was seriously considering it. It was snatched up almost immediately though.

Are you able to comment on the differences in transportability between these and a Brompton? Co-Habitant says that the Raleigh 20 is much, much less compact -- but in your trunk it looks pretty darn compact to me.

@Filigree,
It is nowhere near as compact as a Brompton, it is also old technology, think Raleigh Sports vs a Breezer Uptown. Close but no cigar. I will try and get some more pictures up in the next few days.
